The Heritage Preaching Lectures is an event that seeks to equip and encourage pastors and other ministry leaders with the tools needed to sharpen their skills to serve their churches and congregations.

This year, Heritage Theological Seminary is pleased to welcome Pastor Josh Moody to be our speaker for the day. Josh Moody (Ph.D., University of Cambridge) is the Senior Pastor of College Church in Wheaton and the President of God Centered Life Ministries. He is the author of many books, including the forthcoming Joy of Jesus (Christian Focus 2024); Authentic Spirituality (CLC Publications 2022); and Everyday Holiness: Becoming Who You Were Made to Be (Christian Focus 2022). Join him and Neil Shenvi for The Word Conference 2024.

Heritage College & Seminary is hosting a comprehensive evaluation visit for reaffirmation of accreditation by the ATS Commission on Accrediting on November 11-14. The purpose of this visit is to verify that the school meets all applicable Commission Standards of Accreditation. Comments regarding how well the school meets those standards and/or generally demonstrates educational quality may be sent to accrediting@ats.edu at least two weeks before the visit. Heritage College & Seminary will host its annual Graduation on Saturday, April 27. Our graduates from Heritage College will be honoured at 10:00 am, then the ceremony for the graduating class from Heritage Theological Seminary at 2:30 pm.

Friends and family will gather in the Gymnasium of the Heritage Community Centre to recognize the hard work of our graduating classes and give glory to God for His work in our students and what He will do in Canada and around the world through this graduating class.

Dr. Barry Howson, Vice President of Academics & Academic Dean of the College and Seminary, will deliver the Graduation Address at both ceremonies. Attendees will also hear from the Valedictorian from the College and this year’s Jack Scott Award winner from the Seminary. Worship at both services is being led by this year’s all-student worship band, One80.

The celebration will begin for the Class of 2024 on Friday night during our annual Graduation Banquet & Awards event—honouring students for their academic accomplishments and faithful character on and off campus through several awards. Drs. Rick and Linda Reed will also send the graduating class into life and ministry with a special message at the event.

Make the most of your spring and summer this year by studying God’s Word at Heritage College & Seminary.

Our Spring & Summer Semester registration is now open for those looking to study this summer at Heritage. These classes are available for students looking to progress on their Heritage degrees, as well as those who want to learn and grow in their faith as non-credit students.

One of the highlights of our summer courses is we offer several different formats of classes. Students can take module classes held over a week or multiple days, multi-modal classes with lectures hosted on two Saturdays, or courses delivered online. Module and multi-modal class lectures are hosted on-campus at Heritage or by live stream.

In 2023, Heritage College & Seminary celebrated thirty years of equipping and training men and women for life and ministry. To mark the anniversary, Dr. Michael A.G. Haykin, Professor of Church History at Heritage Theological Seminary, and Jonathan Cleland co-authored “A priceless heritage”: A History of Heritage College and Seminary in three essays— a new book looking back at the early beginnings of the school and the two historic schools that merged to form what is Heritage today.

In 1993, Heritage College & Seminary was formed from an amalgamation between two historic Ontario-based Baptist schools—London Baptist Bible College and Seminary, which was founded in 1976, and Central Baptist Seminary, founded in 1949. By formatting the book to tell the story in three essays focusing on the history of each school, Dr. Haykin explains that it was essential to telling the whole story.

“It was vital to know the history behind the formation of Heritage and that meant retelling the story of Central Baptist Seminary and London Baptist Bible College and Seminary,” says Haykin. “These two schools had their own unique histories that need to be remembered, but they also contributed to the makeup of Heritage hence the need for three essays.”

Now, as Heritage continues to serve and continue its mission to serve the evangelical church in Ontario and Canada, Haykin believes that the school will benefit a great deal from the opportunity to look into its past, learn from it, and gain greater clarity on the identity of the college and seminary.

“Projects like this promote humility as we reflect on what we have inherited and also the necessity of faithfulness to pass on that legacy,” says Haykin. “It teaches us that we are not the first to do this: we can learn from those who have gone before, their strength and their weaknesses.”

The site of the new home for Heritage Theological Seminary continues to be a flurry of activity as construction continues even into the colder months of the late Fall.

Substantial progress continues to be made by the masonry workers on the block walls to the extent that the precast concrete flooring for the second story is in place, and the block walls on the second story are nearing completion. While the colder weather has slowed the masonry work to an extent, it's encouraging to see the progress the team is making. The goal is to have all cement blocking in place before the Christmas break so that the roof trusses, scheduled for early January, can be installed, and allow for work to begin on the roof.

While the masonry workers are busy laying blocks, another contractor fully engages with his crew in installing the steel studding of the interior walls on the first floor. While work is moving forward on interior walls, some overhead electrical and plumbing is being installed.

Please continue to pray for this project and that the new home of Heritage Theological Seminary will bless the church in Canada to the glory of God for years to come.
