Seminary Scholarships and Bursaries

The monetary amounts listed below are the expected scholarship, bursary, grant and discount values for the upcoming school year. However, Heritage reserves the right to adjust these amounts as necessary. More details are also available through the Scholarship Committee.

Scholarships

Heritage offers several scholarships based on academic merit.

Heritage Seminary Degree Scholarship:

Full-time students enrolled in the Master of Divinity or the Master of Theological Studies program will automatically receive a discount of $250 per course. Students must enter from a degree program with a 3.5 AGPA, or maintain a 3.5 GPA in a degree program, to receive the scholarship. Students must register by the fall and winter registration deadlines set by the registrar’s office in order to have their marks assessed for this scholarship. (Certificate students do not qualify for this scholarship)

Amount awarded: $250 discount per course

Ewen Scholarship Fund

Awarded to one full-time, returning seminary student who is in their second year of studies or beyond, possesses an interest in domestic or international missions, and has a 3.3 GPA. Priority is given to students affiliated with the Metropolitan Bible Church or Associated Gospel Church association.  

Open to: Second year seminary students+
Amount awarded: $3000; $1500 in the Fall term, and $1500 in the Winter term
Course Load Required: Full-Time (9 credit hours) each term
GPA Requirement: GPA of 3.3
Application Required: No; Recipient is selected by faculty, staff and Scholarship Committee
References Required: No 

Bursaries

Heritage awards bursaries to students based on financial need and the overall strength of the application. Bursaries can be applied for each year.

Robert Holmes Pastoral Leadership Bursary:

The Robert Holmes Pastoral Leadership Bursary is awarded to one entering, full-time, male Master of Divinity student from a Fellowship Baptist Church who is recommended by his home church as showing leadership/pastoral ministry potential. Awarded to a selected student in the Fall semester.

Open to: All male, first-year MDiv students from FEB churches 
Amount awarded: $750 in the Fall term

William Marshall Leadership Bursary:

The William Marshall Leadership Bursary is awarded to full-time students who demonstrate leadership experience and potential as recommended by references.

Open to: All Seminary Students 
Amount awarded: $1000; $500 in the Fall term, and $500 in the Winter term
Maximum # of Awarded Recipients per Year: 4 Recipients

Course Load Required: Full-Time (9 credit hours) each term

Joseph Boyachek Memorial Bursary:

The Joseph Boyachek Memorial Bursary is awarded to one full-time seminary student who demonstrates a passion for Pastoral Ministry in the GTA, or one full-time seminary student who demonstrates an ability to bring an innovative approach to Pastoral Ministry. Awarded to a selected student in the Winter semester.

Open to: All Seminary Students
Amount awarded: $1000 in the Winter term
Course Load Required: Full-Time (9 credit hours) each term

Randy Jost Memorial Bursary:

The Randy Jost Memorial Bursary is awarded to one male student who is either pursuing a career in pastoral ministry or is already involved in pastoral ministry. Preference is given to the student who exemplifies a godly and balanced life with family, church, and community and demonstrates a heart to serve others according to the example and in likeness of Jesus Christ. Awarded to a selected student in the Fall semester.

Amount awarded: $2500 in the Fall term
Course Load Required: N/A
Application Required: No – Recipient is selected by the Scholarship Committee

Heritage Bursary:

The Heritage Bursary is granted to students based on individual need. Bursaries may be available as funds are donated for general student assistance. In an attempt to be responsible in the distribution of these funds, all applicants are required to complete the Declaration and Bursary Application form. Please send all completed Declaration and Bursary Application forms to scholarships@heritagecs.edu.

Discounts

Heritage offers tuition discounts based on eligibility. Applications are required once a year for each discount.
Please Note: Students cannot receive two discounts simultaneously.

Heritage Partner Church Staff Discount:

Heritage Theological Seminary is pleased to offer a one-year Heritage Partner Church Staff Discount to all Heritage Partner churches. Paid ministry staff from these churches are entitled to a 25% tuition discount for studies at Heritage Theological Seminary.

Open to: All paid Partner church ministry staff, pastors’ wives, and interns.

Missionary Partner Discount:

The Missionary Partner Discount is available to seminary students who are employed by an approved local or global mission agency. The discount provides 50% off tuition for students who are employed full-time by their organization, and 25% off tuition for students who are employed part-time by their organization.

References Required: Letter of Employment is required in the application

*Notice of change: The Missionary Partner Discount will change to a 25% tuition discount as of the 2024-2025 academic year and onwards.

Seniors Discount:

Seniors are eligible for a 25% tuition discount. “Senior” is defined as age 65 or over. This discount applies only to courses taken for credit.

Married Student Discount:

The Married Student Discount is available when both spouses are enrolled in the same term. The spouse of a full-time student will receive a 50% discount on tuition. The spouse eligible for the discount is  the one taking the fewer credit hours. The course(s) must be taken for credit.

Amount awarded: 50% tuition discount for the spouse with the fewest credit hours
Course Load Required: One spouse must be full-time (9 credit hours) each term

Grants

Heritage offers the following grants to assist students in receiving biblical education. 

Church Matching Grant:

The Church Matching Grant is for full-time certificate or degree students who are financially supported by their home church. If the student’s home church sponsors an amount up to $500 (non-partner church) or $1,000 (partner church), Heritage will match the amount in the following Fall or Winter term (Spring/Summer terms excluded). The church’s donation will be applied to the student’s account immediately. In order to receive Heritage’s matching funds, have your church complete the application and send a cheque or e-transfer to Heritage College & Seminary on your behalf. This grant is available annually.

Amount awarded: $500 matching award for non-partner church donation, $1000 matching award for partner church donation.
Course Load Required: Full-Time (9 credit hours) each term
Application Required: Yes, to be completed by the applicant’s home church – Church Matching Grant

Student Relocation Grant:

The Student Relocation Grant is offered to new students from a distance to facilitate full-time attendance at Heritage College & Seminary. Please review the application form for eligibility requirements. Students qualifying may receive the following:

Travel Assistance: $1000; $500 in the Fall term, and $500 in the Winter term

Open to: New students from Canada at an approximate radius of 7 hours driving distance. Postal codes P6 and beyond will be considered.   Postal codes beginning with K, L, M, N & PO through P5 do not qualify.
Amount awarded: Travel Assistance (up to $1000; $500 in the Fall term, and $500 in the Winter term)
Course Load Required: Full-Time (9 credit hours) each term
Application Required: Yes – Student Relocation Grant

Heritage Alumni Grant:

Heritage College & Seminary makes available to graduates of the Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies degrees the opportunity to audit one, free, three credit hour seminary course each academic year.
