New Old Testament & Hebrew Professor

Upon the recommendation of the faculty and the President,   Heritage College & Seminary is pleased to announce that:

Dr. Ian Vaillancourt, Ph.D. has been appointed to the position of Professor Old Testament and Hebrew reporting directly to Dr. Barry Howson, Academic Dean – Seminary.

Ian is an ordained pastor in the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, who has served in pastoral ministry for 14 years. He has recently completed his Ph.D. in Old Testament at the University of St. Michael’s College, Toronto. His doctoral dissertation explores The Multifaceted Portrayal of the Figure of Salvation in Psalms 110 and 118. It approaches the Psalms as a book, employs the canonical approach to biblical interpretation, and argues that a multifaceted—prophet, priest, and king—messianic figure appears in the latter portion of the book of Psalms, and that this figure is presented as the LORD’s agent who will bring about salvation for the people of God. Ian is a conservative evangelical Baptist, who treasures the Bible as the life-giving, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God. Over the past couple of years he has been teaching a number Old Testament courses at Heritage as an adjunct professor. We are now pleased to have him as our full-time seminary Old Testament and Hebrew professor. Ian is married to Natalie and they have two young children, Caleb and Emily.

We look forward to Ian joining our staff on July 1, 2018, and seeing how God will use him as a member of our seminary faculty, as together we seek to move forward in accomplishing the mission of Heritage.
