Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an undergraduate degree to study at the seminary?
You require an undergraduate degree (B.A., B.Sc., B.Th., etc.) for admission into our graduate degree programs, the M.Div. and M.T.S. However, mature students (28+ years of age) may apply for our diploma and certificate programs.
How long are the graduate programs at Heritage?
The programs vary in length from 1-3 years of full-time study (degrees take longer than certificates). You may also choose to study part-time, which would extend the length of your program.
I work full-time, can I still take courses from Heritage?
We have designed our programs and courses with flexible learning options, so that those with work and family commitments can still study. Many courses are offered online, or in multi-modal and modular formats, which minimize the amount of time you need to be on campus.
How much work is involved in the classes?
You should expect to put in about 8-12 hours per week for every course you take. This includes your lectures, readings, and homework assignments. The variable will be how quickly you read and write (some courses require more than others), as these are major components of a seminary education.
What can I do with my seminary education?
The most common application of seminary training will be to work in a church or para-church organization. However, chaplaincy, biblical counselling, advanced academic research, and writing are all potential avenues in which to apply your seminary education.
