Frequently Asked Questions:
Are Heritage courses accredited?
Heritage College is accredited through The Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Heritage is approved as a degree-granting institution in Ontario. We grant bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
If I study at Heritage, can I transfer my courses to another University?
Since Heritage is fully accredited, our courses are eligible for transfer to other university-level institutions. However, it is important to note that each school can set its own policy on course transferability, so it is always best to check with your future school to see if they will transfer your Heritage courses.
What financial aid is available?
Heritage has many options available to help you fund your education. We are an OSAP approved institution, and students can apply to see if they qualify for grants or loans from the government. We offer several scholarships and bursaries, including an automatic academic entrance scholarship (which can be renewed each year by keeping your Grade Point Average up), and several others that you can apply for. We also work closely with students’ home churches by offering matching scholarships when your home church supports you financially.
What can I do with a degree from Heritage?
While some of our students come to Heritage to grow deeper in their faith, others come to train for ministry in the church or work in para-church organizations. Many of our graduates are employed in churches in pastoral care, youth ministry, children’s ministry or music and worship ministry. Others find themselves in roles of outreach and community work such as cross-cultural missions, Christian camps, YFC, Pregnancy Resource Centres, and music studios to name a few. Some students go straight from Heritage College to master’s level studies.
What makes Heritage unique as a post-secondary option?
Heritage is serious about equipping men and women both for life and ministry. Whether you come for one year, or four years, Heritage will seek to help you develop the skills and personality that the Lord has given you to be used wherever he places you – whether that is working at a local grocery store, working in ministry, or raising a family. At Heritage College, we teach students what we call the five L’s: learn to love God, learn to love others, lead yourself first, live on mission, lift up the church.
In your first year, you will have the opportunity to explore each of these areas in depth and learn why we believe they are so important as a basis for the rest of your life! Heritage guides you to put this into action by going beyond the classroom and giving you opportunities to serve in our local community of Cambridge.
