Heritage Theological Seminary is excited to welcome Bruce J. Clemenger to speak to ministry leaders and pastors at this year’s Ministry Leadership Day on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Clemenger will present several lectures entitled, Pluralism, Secularism, and the New Orthodoxy: Christian Witness amidst Canada’s Emerging Civil Religion.

Clemenger currently serves as the Senior Ambassador and President Emeritus of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. Before this new role, he led The EFC as its CEO and President for 20 years. As a part of his ministry, Clemenger has become a highly respected and prominent voice in Canada on topics surrounding religion, culture, ethics, and politics in this nation. He is also the author of the recent book, "The New Orthodoxy: Canada’s Emerging “Civil Religion.”

Every year, this annual event offers a day of equipping and encouragement for pastors, program directors, and volunteer ministry leaders from several churches in our region and across Canada. This year, attendees for Ministry Leadership Day can participate in person at Heritage College & Seminary or register to attend the event online.

From the opportunity to connect with friends and fellow pastors and ministry leaders to the ever-popular book table— Dr. Barry Howson, Academic Dean of Seminary at Heritage Theological Seminary, says that the day has become a valuable day of learning for all who attend.

“It is an opportunity for our students to see how ministry and leadership in ministry are practiced as they learn from experienced pastors and leaders. And, for those of us presently serving in ministry, it is meant to be an encouragement and helps us think through what we do as leaders, giving us new ideas or affirming old ones,” says Dr. Howson.

Pastor, author, and professor Dr. Steve West has been named Provost of Heritage College & Seminary.

Dr. West has been a long-recognized faculty member at Heritage. For many years, he has faithfully taught and mentored students from the college and seminary, teaching courses in theology, philosophy, ethics, and apologetics. In addition to teaching at Heritage, West has had an international ministry, preaching, lecturing, and teaching courses in multiple countries on five continents around the world.

While academic teaching has been a significant part of his ministry, West has served his entire adult life as a pastor in the local church. Recently he has pastored at Crestwicke Baptist Church in Guelph, Ontario, and now is at Madoc Baptist Church, where he will continue to serve as Lead Pastor.

In addition, he is also the author of several books and contributed to several publications, including a forthcoming commentary on the book of Numbers co-authored by Heritage College’s Professor of Biblical Studies, Dr. Joel Barker.

When approached about the opportunity to serve in this role, West says that he was attracted to the opportunity to play a role in helping Heritage continue to equip the church for serving the Lord in the current cultural context.

“I’ve always been very thankful for the environment at Heritage, and I am looking forward to working closely with the staff, faculty, students, church leaders, and pastors to help make sure that our courses and degree programs stay innovative, relevant, biblically-grounded, and theologically-sound,” says West. “It’s a great privilege to be part of the Lord’s work on campus, and I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues to shape the architecture and design of our educational offerings as we move into the future.”

In this new role as Provost, Dr. West will provide leadership and oversight surrounding the academics for the college and seminary at Heritage. He will work alongside Dr. Barry Howson, who will serve Heritage as Academic Dean of the College and Seminary. Dr. West will also sit on the President's Cabinet, providing insight and direction to the ongoing vision and operations of Heritage.

In a statement from the President’s Cabinet of Heritage, the leaders of the school share their excitement about the addition of Dr. West into this new position.

“At the centre of all we do at Heritage is a desire to train our students to lead and serve well in the local church. Throughout his ministry as a pastor and professor, Dr. Steve West has shown that he shares this passion for equipping men and women for life and ministry. His experience leading in the local church, coupled with his desire to help strengthen the academic programs and faculty at Heritage, will be an asset for the health and growth of our college and seminary.”

Join students and faculty from Heritage Theological Seminary throughout the Winter Semester for Seminary Chapels.

On several Thursday mornings, students are welcome to join faculty and staff for these special Chapel services hosted for the seminary in The Bean, located in The Heritage Community Centre. These services offer students an excellent opportunity to pray and worship together, learn from God’s Word, and encourage one another over lunch for only $2.

Our first Seminary Chapel will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 11:30 am.

Due to freezing rain and severe winter weather in the forecast, Heritage College & Seminary offices will be closed on Thursday, December 15, 2022. Heritage staff may be working online from their homes today and will be available online by email if contact is necessary.

The Heritage Library will be open today for students to access resources or for study space.

For updates on exams scheduled for today, college and seminary students are to look on myHeritage for updates or reach out to their professors with any questions they may have regarding exams.

Heritage College & Seminary is excited to once again be hosting our Ministry Job Fair on campus, this year through our newly launched Career & Calling Centre.

We are excited to welcome 30+ camps, parachurch organizations, missions organizations, and churches to our campus to share about their ministries and current job openings. These ministries are hiring for full-time and part-time permanent jobs, summer jobs, and internships.

This event is open to:

• College and seminary students
• High school students interested in summer jobs or short-term missions trips
• Anyone interested in a career or job in ministry

We are excited to host our annual LEAD Conference once again at Heritage! Join us on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Heritage College & Seminary.

This free event is geared toward training and equipping young leaders—whether you are a current Heritage student, a young person in Grade 11 or 12 who serves as a leader, or a youth pastor or director—to serve God and others well.

Join us as we learn from our main speaker for the day, Earl Marshall, Pastor of Training & Discipleship at Hope Bible Church in Oakville, ON.

Plus, Grade 11 and 12 students who attend will be placed in a draw for a chance to win a $1000 scholarship toward tuition at Heritage. Two winners will be drawn during the event.
