College / Special Events
College & Seminary Students are encouraged to participate in the special events that occur on campus!
Several times each year special days of worship and discipleship are scheduled. For this year, the designated events are: Spiritual Emphasis Days in September; Outreach Emphasis Days in November, Missions Emphasis Days in February, and Arts Emphasis Days in March. Other optional events may also be offered.
Spiritual Emphasis Week takes place in September. This special week helps prepare students’ hearts for a year of learning. A guest speaker challenges the students to engage in God’s word during the year and to give themselves to Him and follow where He may be calling them. The speaker usually focuses on a theme verse that is chosen by the Student Council or at times may speak from a topic that is close to his/her own heart.
Local Outreach Week takes place in November. During this week students are challenged to look at the needs within the surrounding community of Heritage or the needs in their home community. A guest speaker challenges the understanding of what it means to reach out to the community. There are local outreach events organized where students can participate such as serving in a local community service, working alongside an existing Christian outreach program or evangelizing in the local Cambridge community.
Missions Conference takes place in February. This is a large event on campus, with a guest speaker, workshops from various mission organizations, a worship band, an international soccer tournament and our famous International Dinner and Cake Auction to raise funds for students participating in Mission trips. This is a unique experience that challenges students to look at Missions both overseas and locally.
Arts week takes place in March. This is a time to celebrate the Arts and how God uses the Arts to proclaim who He is. We have speakers, workshops and special afternoons of Music and Art. Students are challenged to express the talents God has given them and understand the unique ways to show God’s love to others whether it is through music, drama or visual art.
A time to join together as a community to celebrate the end of the Fall term, and to celebrate the birth of Christ together during the Christmas season. A time of fun, food and fellowship!
This occurs during the end of the year as we take the time to celebrate those students who are graduating. Families, friends, staff and faculty gather to worship together, hear messages from graduates and a special guest speaker. Awards are handed out and, of course, food and desserts are consumed!
End of Year Event
This takes place after final exams have been completed. Spend a day together with your friends. In the past we have gone to the Toronto Zoo, Royal Ontario Museum, Medieval Times, Ripley's Aquarium, Stratford Festival or a Jays game. At times, we have come back to the school after the event to have pizza together or a massive BBQ! This event is a lot of fun so make sure you plan to attend this event.
